MRS Media Recipe

  1. Dissolve the following in 850ml of distilled water
    • 10g Casein peptone, tryptic digest
    • 10g Meat extract
    • 5g Yeast extract
    • 20g Glucose
    • 1g Tween-80
    • 2g K2HPO4
    • 5g Na-acetate
    • 2g (NH4)2 citrate
    • 0.2g MgSO4-7H2O
    • 0.05g MnSO4-H2O
  2. Adjust pH to between 6.2 and 6.5
  3. Bring to 1000ml with distilled water
  4. Autoclave or filter sterilize

MRS media has been used for the recovery of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from various food products.
